Harris County Texas District Attorney Kim Ogg’s team is nearly 1100 strong. They are at the helm of Harris County Texas’ vanguard entities for safety, quality of societal life, and justice. Routinely, the odds are against them; irrespective, it is their accustomed reality. It comes with the territory. Notwithstanding, with the tide of nature having recently severely turned against them, they are presently awash with its devastating consequences. Hurricane Harvey flooded their headquarters and damaged their building to the point of complete inoperability.

Currently, the DA’s team is spread across 1770 square miles and 11 interim bases of operations. Pleas for help is futile afield several other vanguard agencies and servants who also share disabling post-disaster circumstances. Team leadership is required to make things work. This is the service of justice warriors. The defense of 4.5 million citizens must go on against the predatory behaviors and social ills that prevail even when all are endeavoring to recover from the hurricane disaster.

Among the standout predatory behaviors in Harris County is domestic violence. Its prevalence ranks among the highest number of incidents in the United States. DA Kim Ogg has had enough and demands a turnaround in this problem. She has appointed a Chief Guardian to lead the way. Carvanna Cloud, Chief of her Family Criminal Law Unit, is her choice. Chief Cloud has clear orders from her boss. Deliver a blow to the domestic violence in Harris County. It is a Texas-sized order. Incidents of domestic violence in Harris County rate among the highest in the United States. Incidents of such violence among African American and Hispanic couples are disproportionally off the chart in relation to Harris County demographics and similar demographics throughout the country. DA Ogg’s concern and determination are warranted and are determined. She has chosen the right warrior in Chief Carvanna Cloud.

Picture the vanguard warrior. Carvanna Cloud is unabashed of her past as a victim of domestic violence. Make no mistake; presuming her vulnerable and tolerant of such a relationship today would be the demise of a partner. Chief Cloud is principled, determined, brilliant in perspective, steeped in personal humility, and ferociously intolerant of abuse. In her diligence as a public servant and leader, she is to be reckoned as an immutable force for justice.
